Youth steal the show at SFAC ‘Arts Day of Giving’

On April 29, 2013, SFAC held a special event for “Arts Day of Giving” with their “Open Studio, Open Mic, Open Movement” evening from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. SFAC galleries were all open for viewing and filled with “Celebrating the Figure” artworks and other collections well worth more than a second look. Art Goes Front and Center

Anthony Padilla creates a mural for the Pence Gallery on Monday at the Davis Commons plaza downtown as part of Arts Day of Giving, which asked arts lovers to donate to their favorite local organizations. Pence Gallery executive director Natalie Nelson estimates that 100 people joined the fun at Davis Commons, which included drawing exercises and Padilla’s painting, which were among many activities as part of the 24-hour fundraiser organized by GiveLocalNow in partnership with the Sacramento Region Community Foundation and the Sacramento Metropolitan Artgs Commission.

The region’s first 24-hour giving challenge, Arts Day of Giving on April 29, 2013, was both a huge success and a demonstration of our community’s generosity and vibrant nonprofit sector.

At the time of writing, tallies are still being verified but more than 3600 donations resulted in over $400,000 to 78 arts organizations in the region, with prorated matches by the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, Western Health Advantage, Wells Fargo and others, for a total that will surpass $500,000 to the arts organizations.

Sacramento donation for the arts drive raises over $400,000

The Sacramento area’s first 24-hour online giving drive for arts groups raised more than $400,000.

The online Day of Giving raised $411,907, according to Arts Day of Giving website. A total of 3,460 gifts were received.

Arts Day of Giving at Mulvaney’s

GiveLocalNow  has a good competitive spirit. It’s a 24-hour online giving for the arts. It’s aim is to raise money for Arts. $500,000 is their goal.

It kicked off at 4:29am and continues until 4:29am tomorrow (Tuesday).

Twenty-four hour ‘Arts Day’ fundraising already collects $134,000

With the Monday morning kickoff of the area’s first 24-hour online giving challenge, the Sacramento region already has raised more than $134,000 for local nonprofit arts programs.

The “Arts Day of Giving” began at 4:29 a.m. and will continue through 4:29 a.m. Tuesday. The event’s goal is to allow arts groups to gain exposure and connect with new donors, said Priscilla Enriquez of Sacramento Region Community Foundation, which helped coordinate the challenge.

Supporting the arts will demonstrate the strength and generosity of our greater Sacramento region!

We are excited to be gearing up for the region’s first Arts Day of Giving, a 24-hour giving challenge that will launch April 29th at 4:29am, and we hope you are too!Along with our partners at the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, GiveLocalNow, the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission and For Arts’ Sake, we at the Nonprofit Resource Center know this will be a pivotal time for philanthropy in our region and the future success of our nonprofit sector.  We look forward to celebrating many more Day of Giving opportunities in the years ahead benefiting the full range of our region’s nonprofits, with the next one planned for spring 2014.

As nonprofit leadership, staff, volunteers, board members and supporters, we call on YOU to make this inaugural Day of Giving in our region a resounding success by participating on both an organizational and personal level. This will result in a strong show of support for our beloved arts organizations while simultaneously generating enthusiasm and future support for many more days of giving.

The 2013 Day of Giving for the Arts will be held April 29, 2013. This inaugural 24-hour giving challenge and opportunity for local arts organizations is organized by GiveLocalNow, the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission and For Arts’ Sake, in partnership with the region’s arts councils and other key partners including the Nonprofit Resource Center.

The deadline for nonprofit arts organizations to participate in the 2013 Day of Giving has passed. If you are interested in participating in a future Day of Giving events or have questions about what is planned, please email or call the contacts listed on the GiveLocalNow website.
