Arts Day of Giving a Huge Success
Thanks to all!
The region’s first 24-hour giving challenge, Arts Day of Giving on April 29, 2013, was both a huge success and a demonstration of our community’s generosity and vibrant nonprofit sector.
At the time of writing, tallies are still being verified but more than 3600 donations resulted in over $400,000 to 78 arts organizations in the region, with prorated matches by the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, Western Health Advantage, Wells Fargo and others, for a total that will surpass $500,000 to the arts organizations.

Supporting the arts will demonstrate the strength and generosity of our greater Sacramento region!
We are excited to be gearing up for the region’s first Arts Day of Giving, a 24-hour giving challenge that will launch April 29th at 4:29am, and we hope you are too!Along with our partners at the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, GiveLocalNow, the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission and For Arts’ Sake, we at the Nonprofit Resource Center know this will be a pivotal time for philanthropy in our region and the future success of our nonprofit sector. We look forward to celebrating many more Day of Giving opportunities in the years ahead benefiting the full range of our region’s nonprofits, with the next one planned for spring 2014.
As nonprofit leadership, staff, volunteers, board members and supporters, we call on YOU to make this inaugural Day of Giving in our region a resounding success by participating on both an organizational and personal level. This will result in a strong show of support for our beloved arts organizations while simultaneously generating enthusiasm and future support for many more days of giving.
Please read the questions and answers below as well as find more details and resources on the the GiveLocalNow website, which will be transformed on April 29 at 4:29am into the giving portal for all Arts Day of Giving donations.
This has been a strategic and coordinated effort among many key partners and funders, but the success of this day depends on YOU. Together, we can make this happen.

Arts Day of Giving: April 29, 2013
Resources and updates for participating organizations
The 2013 Day of Giving for the Arts will be held April 29, 2013. This inaugural 24-hour giving challenge and opportunity for local arts organizations is organized by GiveLocalNow, the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission and For Arts’ Sake, in partnership with the region’s arts councils and other key partners including the Nonprofit Resource Center.
The deadline for nonprofit arts organizations to participate in the 2013 Day of Giving has passed. If you are interested in participating in a future Day of Giving events or have questions about what is planned, please email or call the contacts listed on the GiveLocalNow website.

A leveraged media campaign to educate, connect and resource the community in support of the region’s nonprofit sector
The Sacramento Bee, the Nonprofit Resource Center and GiveLocalNow have joined together to present a unique “advertorial” campaign in support of the nonprofit sector.
The central feature of the Strengthen Our Community campaign is a full-page profile in The Sacramento Bee seen by half a million readers. This advertorial provides collaboratively researched local information about trends and challenges in key topical areas of our region’s nonprofit sectors: education, health, youth services, the arts, environmental causes, veterans issues, animal welfare, economic development. In addition, the impact of this monthly advertorial will be amplified by social media and website promotions including links for follow up action, connecting the public with area nonprofits and local resources.

GiveLocalNow Campaign Launches Sept. 15
Public awareness and education movement builds on Generosity Project research
GiveLocalNow is a new and innovative movement in the Sacramento Region (El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento and Yolo counties) dedicated to increasing philanthropy to local nonprofits. The movement has been created in response to quantitative and qualitative research documenting that the region’s donation amounts are lower than the national average.
