Founded in 1969, the Center for Small Business (CSB) is one of
the oldest and largest of its kind in the United States. The CSB
offers free technical management assistance in all areas of
business other than taxation, law, and loan packaging, to small
for-profit and nonprofit organizations. The services are provided
by juniors, seniors, and graduate students under faculty
supervision. These students are assigned to work with clients of
the CSB as part of their coursework in various classes offered by
the College of Business Administration at Sacramento State
University. Services are provided compliments of CSUS and many of
the financial institutions of the local area and Sacramento
Municipal Utility District (SMUD).

The Community Consulting Group (CCG) is an organization of UC
Davis MBA students who provide free consulting services to
nonprofit organizations. Founded by UC Davis MBA students in
1999, the CCG brings together the diverse professional and
academic experiences of MBA students and professors to provide
consulting services tailored to client-specific needs. Proposals
are accepted quarterly. For more information on CCG including
their project request form, visit their website.
If your organization works with low-income individuals or
communities, has limited financial resources and can greatly
benefit from legal assistance, the Community Organization
Representation Project (CORP) may be able to help. Experienced
volunteer attorneys can assist organizations with revising an
employee handbook, reviewing a lease, negotiating a
contract,·updating an·outdated set of bylaws, or trademarking a
logo. They can also help with larger projects such as purchasing
a building, starting a nonprofit business venture, or
restructuring your organization. In addition, CORP also helps
form long-term partnerships between organizations and law firms.
We express our gratitude to Wells Fargo for providing the funding
for our new website. The goal of this project has been to create
a highly accessible resource for all nonprofit organizations in
the region, providing information at the fingertips of executive
directors, staff and board members.
Wells Fargo has been a partner in the project from the beginning,
helping us to leverage the website grant into a regional resource
hub, and we appreciate their dedication.
