Pam Dinsmore
Community Affairs Director, The Sacramento Bee
Pam Dinsmore, a veteran editor and journalist at The Sacramento Bee, was named Community Affairs Director in 2009. She was promoted to the job by Publisher Cheryl Dell, who said that The Bee needs to stay connected with the community and it will be Dinsmore’s job to strengthen those connections with businesses, organizations and readers. She is responsible for sharing The Bee’s story and to open the doors of the newspaper to those we serve.
Dinsmore uses her skills as a journalist and connections within the community to bring that story to life through events at The Bee, neighborhood forums and as the main contact with the nonprofit world. She also is in charge of the paper’s “Book of Dreams” campaign, which raised more than $205,000 in 2011 for people in need in our community.
Dinsmore also serves as The Bee’s media relations contact, answering questions about the company. The Bee is a powerful news organization with the largest newsroom in Northern California, including the state capitol. She came to The Bee in 1990 from the San Francisco as State News editor and quickly moved on to the jobs of News Editor and Assistant Managing Editor for News.
Until now, her most rewarding job was Assistant Managing Editor for Features from 2000-2008. During that time, the Features staff was awarded a Missouri Lifestyle Award and was named one of the Top 20 Features sections in the country.
